Approximately 222,000 adult bed assistance rails are recalled due to hazards of entrapment and asphyxia, linked to one fatal incident. A 66-year-old man died after becoming trapped between a mattress and a bed rail in a facility.

The recall affects three models of Medical King's portable bed rails, sold online from January 2020 to March 2024, without brand-specific labeling.

Consumer Action and CPSC Response

Consumers are instructed to cease use immediately and contact Medical King for a free repair kit or replacement.

This recall marks the ninth for adult portable beds since 2021, with the CPSC linking these recalls to serious injuries and 18 deaths. The agency emphasizes new safety standards and installation tips.
