Privacy and Security Adjustments

's Recall feature, which takes continuous screenshots and indexes on-screen activity, has been criticized for privacy concerns. In response, Microsoft made Recall an opt-in feature, requires biometric authentication, and allows users to pause data capture or exclude certain apps.

Despite improvements, some security researchers note that filtering sensitive data can be inconsistent. Users can completely uninstall Recall, addressing concerns about unauthorized access to sensitive information.

Enhanced AI Tools and User Control

Alongside Recall, Microsoft introduced an AI-powered Windows search interface and Click to Do feature, enhancing user experience by allowing natural language queries and quick actions on text and images.

Recall is exclusive to + PCs, a new class of Windows 11 laptops with built-in NPUs for local AI processing. This exclusivity limits Recall's availability to a specific subset of users, emphasizing Microsoft's focus on integrating AI into its ecosystem.
