Michelle Mercogliano, a 35-year-old special education teacher at , faces 63 charges including sexual assault and illegal drug distribution for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student.

The relationship, which reportedly began in February, involved sexual encounters and the provision of medical marijuana to the student, with communication primarily through Snapchat.

Response and Investigation

Mercogliano has been placed on leave by the Tredyffrin Easttown School District, which is cooperating with the investigation. Superintendent Richard Gusick stated no other students are believed to be involved.

The Chester County District Attorney’s Office emphasized the breach of trust and commitment to not tolerate such actions, while Mercogliano is expected to turn herself in.
