Expansion and Production Plans

Amazon's Zoox announces plans to produce up to 10,000 robotaxis annually at a new factory in Hayward, California, aiming to challenge Waymo's dominance in the autonomous cab market.

The Hayward facility, a transformation of a former bus manufacturing plant, is designed for high-tech vehicle assembly, with Zoox planning to scale production from one vehicle a day to three per hour by next year.

Market Entry and Competition

Zoox's robotaxi service is set to begin in Las Vegas later this year, with plans to expand to San Francisco and other major U.S. markets by 2027, aiming to compete with Waymo's established services.

While Zoox focuses on a unique design and high production capacity, Waymo continues to expand its own services and plans, including a recent application to test robotaxis in New York City.
